Cumberland Pharmaceuticals is a U.S. specialty pharmaceutical company focused on acquiring, developing, and commercializing prescription products for hospital acute-care and gastroenterology. Founded in Nashville in 1999, the company markets brands including Acetadote, Caldolor, Kristalose, and Vibativ. In 2026 it completed a $100 million strategic transaction with an affiliate of Apotex, the largest Canadian pharmaceutical company, in which Apotex acquired Cumberland's line of branded pharmaceuticals at closing (July 1, 2026), funded a special shareholder dividend, and sharpened Cumberland's focus on its late-stage orphan-drug pipeline, including ifetroban and a Duchenne muscular dystrophy candidate holding FDA orphan and rare pediatric disease designations.
